what we offer

Addiction Treatment Programs

Vive Treatment Centers offers three outpatient addiction treatment programs: an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and standard Outpatient care (OP). All three treat drug and alcohol addiction alongside co-occurring mental health conditions, with daytime and evening sessions built around work and school schedules. We accept all major Insurance.

How our addiction treatment programs fit together

Treatment at Vive follows a step-down structure. Most people begin in the Intensive Outpatient Program, add MAT when medication supports their recovery, and move to standard Outpatient care as stability grows. You enter at the level that matches your clinical needs, not a fixed track. A licensed clinician assesses your situation during your first call, recommends a starting level, and adjusts the plan as you progress. Because a psychiatrist oversees care at every level, your treatment plan covers both the substance use and the mental health conditions that so often drive it. Family members can be part of treatment too; family therapy sessions are built into IOP so the people around you understand the plan and can support it.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

IOP is our core level of care. Sessions run three hours each, three to five days per week, in daytime and evening tracks, so you can keep working or attending school while in treatment. Programming combines group therapy, individual counseling, family therapy sessions, and psychiatric care, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). You will work with the same clinical team throughout, and your schedule is set around your commitments rather than the other way around. IOP fits people stepping down from inpatient care, people entering treatment for the first time, and people with court-ordered treatment requirements.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

MAT combines FDA-approved medications with therapy to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, and stabilize brain chemistry during recovery. We prescribe naltrexone, buprenorphine, and acamprosate within our intensive outpatient programs, and our psychiatrists manage medications for co-occurring conditions within the same plan. Medication decisions are made jointly by you and the clinical team, reviewed at each stage of treatment, and adjusted as your recovery progresses. MAT is not a standalone service here; it works inside the structure of IOP so that medication and therapy reinforce each other.

Outpatient Treatment (OP)

OP is the step-down level after IOP. Sessions run once weekly and focus on relapse prevention, emotional wellness, and holding the progress you built during intensive treatment. Most people move here after completing IOP and stay connected while returning to full independence. Group support and individual sessions remain available, and stepping back up to IOP is always an option if clinical needs change.

Mental health care in every program

Depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia are treated alongside substance use in every program we run. Vive was founded by a board-certified addiction psychiatrist because most substance use programs in the area did not treat co-occurring mental health needs and did not keep psychiatrists on staff. Here, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and therapy for the underlying condition are part of the addiction treatment plan itself, not a referral to a second provider.

What if I need detox or residential care first?

We do not provide medical detox or residential treatment on-site. If withdrawal or round-the-clock care is clinically necessary, we refer you to a partner facility and coordinate your admission into our IOP as soon as you are ready to step down. This assessment happens on your first call, because withdrawal from alcohol or benzodiazepines can be dangerous without medical supervision. Telling you honestly what we do and do not provide is part of safe treatment.

IOP vs. OP: which level fits?

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Outpatient (OP)

Weekly commitment

One session per week

Schedule

Daytime and evening tracks

Scheduled around work

Clinical intensity

Group, individual, family therapy, psychiatric care

Best for

Active addiction, step-down from inpatient care, co-occurring conditions needing structure

Completed IOP, stable, maintaining progress

IOP is the right level when weekly therapy alone is not holding but overnight care is not needed. OP is the right level once the goal shifts from building recovery to keeping it. Most people move through both.

Insurance and cost

We are in-network with Aetna, Cigna, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield including the Federal Employee Program, UnitedHealthcare and Optum, and Tricare, and we work with most other commercial plans. Most plans cover IOP and MAT with prior authorization; your exact cost depends on your deductible and coinsurance. Submit the verification form and our admissions team confirms your coverage before your first visit, so you know what your plan pays before treatment begins.

Which addiction treatment program is right for me?

IOP fits active addiction that needs structure without overnight care, and OP fits people maintaining progress after intensive treatment. A licensed clinician assesses your situation on your first call and recommends a level.

If you are physically dependent on alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids, possibly yes. We assess this first, refer you to a partner detox facility when needed, and admit you to IOP directly afterward.

Most commercial plans cover IOP and MAT with prior authorization. We are in-network with Aetna, Cigna, CareFirst, UnitedHealthcare, and Tricare, and we verify your benefits before you start.

Yes. IOP runs in daytime and evening tracks, and OP is one session per week, so most people maintain work or school throughout treatment.

Yes. Every program treats depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia alongside substance use, with psychiatrists on staff for evaluation and medication management.

Length is set by clinical progress, not a fixed calendar. Most people complete IOP first, then continue in once-weekly Outpatient care for as long as it is useful.

Yes, when clinically appropriate. MAT medications include naltrexone, buprenorphine, and acamprosate, and our psychiatrists also prescribe and manage medications for co-occurring mental health conditions.

You speak confidentially with our admissions team about your situation, and we check whether your insurance covers treatment here. You then meet with a licensed clinician who builds a treatment plan around your needs. If our programs are not the right fit, we help refer you to another treatment provider.
